This mural is part of the temporary art project URBANIMA - de Grotestraat (Slammer!, 2026), in which discarded houseplants from local residents are 'reanimated' using various forms of artistic expression. From a traveling greenhouse, these plants are integrated into animated video projections, lenticular prints, AR applications, optical illusions, and more, which are then projected into the streetscape. This mural serves as a lasting landmark for URBANIMA, the residents of de Grotestraat, and their shared houseplants. The artists' studio is also located—literally—behind the mural, offering a symbolic glimpse into their daily operations.

The initiative and design of this mural are by artist collective Slammer! (Toon Loenders & Sam Billen), while the realization is by artist Wallievis. Production and co-financing were handled by Treepack.

With special thanks to the City of Genk.

Where the conservatory now stands, there used to be the mural ‘The light that binds’ by Jan Rosius. This work has since disappeared following the demolition of the building.
