Inspired by retro arcade aesthetics and fused with the vintage imagery characteristic of the US romantic comic illustration in the 50s and 60s.
Clearly influenced by Pop Art referents such as Roy Lichtenstein.
This mural contemplates the essence of romantic love in its most idealized and, at the same time, distorted form in our society. With the main figure mixed with passion and longing, the work is made up of intense and vibrant colors. These tones evoke the intensity of emotions often associated with love, but also suggest an inner struggle, a desire for connection that sometimes becomes an emotional prison.
Parts of the mural are made up of pixelated patterns that intertwine, creating a sense of fragmentation and distortion. These patterns represent how the idealization of love can distort our perception of reality, leading us to expect another person to be the source of our happiness and personal development. The figure, seems to be trapped in a game of ego, where she seeks validation in the other, without allowing her true essence to shine through.
This mural becomes a mirror that reflects both the beauty and complexity of idealized and normalized romantic love.
