The completed Bramston Beach Amenities Building Mural!

I was approached by the Bramston Beach Progress Association about designing and painting murals on two buildings at Pacific Park in Bramston Beach.

The design brief was to showcase things that make Bramston Beach unique. Things such as the endangered southern cassowary, the large paper bark trees that line the beaches, finding pippies along the waters edge ( which was both my boys favourite thing to do here), the swooping plovers, the nesting sea turtles, the super cute curlews, the laughing kookaburras, a group of Burkedin Ducks which have made the beachside town home and of course the incredible fishing !!!!!!

After receiving the list of things they wanted on their murals I set about designing these in a way that would aesthetically highlight both the buildings.

❤️My first design, the front of the ammenities block, I chose to celebrate Bramston Beach by writing the name of the town in large block writing, amd incorporate some of the other images inside of these letters. And then have this writing sitting on the beautiful image of the beach at sunrise, where the sand appears quite dark and the sky shows off it’s beautiful colours while the ocean reflects the sky’s beauty!

🐢The right side of the building showcase the sea turtle and some hatching sea turtle eggs.

🐕‍🦺Working with the Cairns Council Cairns Pets to help raise the importance of keeping domestic animals contained , we came up with imagery showcasing a person walking their dog on the lead and messaging to help enforce the message that our gorgeous wild life needs protection so domestic animals need to be restrained in such delicate environments.

🧡The left hand side of the building showcases the gorgeous Southern Cassowary and two stripey chicks, which we were lucky enough to see on our drive into the beach.

After the designs were completed, I painted the back grounds and drew the up the images. From there I created a number chart, and over 60 colours and sectioned of the area where each colour changed, to hold a paint by numbers painting session with the Bramston Beach Community.

After the workshops, all the details were added and the additional features were completed!

A massive thank you to The Bramston Beach Progress Association, Cairns Regional Council and the amazing community of Bramston Beach for making this project possible, and for entrusting my vision and artistic skill to bring this mural to life!
