The moral of the Japanese fairy tale of Urashima Tarō was passed down from generations since the ninth century and reflects the Japanese attitude towards nature, respect for mythical creatures and the believe in worlds beyond the human realm. It offers a deeper insight to human nature like kindness, temptation and consequentialism and gives a reflection on passage of time and the mysteries of live and death.
