<div>The artist asked some of the residents about their history is, and how they ended up in Antwerp-Luchtbal. Also possible is the story of their ancestors who came to Belgium. This can be depicted in a portrait, the story of which is made visible within the contours of the face.</div>

<div>The electrical box in Havanastraat was designed by local Merksem artist Jango Jim. It is inspired by the bustling neighborhood of Little Havana in the city of Miami he visited last year. A colorful neighborhood and multicultural melting pot of people from Cuba and all over the world full of folk art, Cuban coffee, cigar shops, salsa dance clubs, restaurants, ... Because of the tropical atmosphere and palm trees it always looks like summer. <div>Day after day, this local artist draws crazy creatures that respond to their environment, each character has its own character traits, and it is said that the artist sometimes draws inspiration from his neighbors. Thanks to the participatory project 'Tour Elentrik' of Treepack this local joined a workshop and learnt the techniques of spraypaint.</div>

<div>After an immense success of the comic strip "season of farty" on a cupboard in Leuven, the artist goes down again and illustrates for the first time in Antwerp the adventures of Farty Pigmac, a cute pig with a naughty and adventurous side. <div>a local resident who spends her free time painting. She is also part of the Urban Sketchers, a group of enthusiasts who gather weekly at different locations to reveal their talents. Here you see a design based on Monet's paintings. <div>For years now Jaune has been stencilling his little fluo garbage men in the streets.&nbsp;<br>In 2013 during the Day One Festival he created a small world on the main square of this appartment complex.<br>You'll find these little street sweepers interacting in another way you're used to creating funny little stories.<br>If you'll look closely you'll find all the artists involved in this festival written on the little walls in graffiti style.<br><br>Day One Festival ( 2013)ktober</div>

<div>Matthew Dawn was asked to help out on the Day One Festival, it was his first festival and he wasn't supposed to do a wall.<br>Until he was asked to do one anyway. <div>Local artist was looking for a strong link with "Tour elentrik", but combined with a message:&nbsp;<br>Zeus (or Thor for the friends) in this context is symbol for an endless source of electricity that continues to flow divinely, while this is not so obvious.&nbsp;<br>However, there is a positive note: Zeus raises his fist as a “power to the people” symbol, because together we can still solve all the problems we have if we want. "<br>--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------<br>Deze artiest ging op zoek naar een sterke link met Tour elentrik, maar gecombineerd met een boodschap:</div><div>Zeus (of Thor voor de vrienden) staat hier het schijn-symbool voor een eindeloze bron van elektriciteit die op goddelijke manier blijft toestromen, terwijl dit eigenlijk niet zo vanzelfsprekend is.</div><div><br>&nbsp;Toch is er een positieve noot: Zeus steekt zijn vuist op als een “power to the people” symbool, omdat we nog steeds samen alle problemen die we hebben kunnen oplossen als we maar willen. <div>During breeding season, the Northern Lapwing (translation kievit) forms its nests in Belgian grasslands and farming lands. It loses its breeding grounds because of the growth in human population, and by extension the urbanization of our landscape.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Many species are losing territory and our biodiversity is shrinking. This bird, with its recognizable black and white feathers, flies high as a symbol, a voice for those species who are being pushed aside for humanity. Northern Lapwing

<div>Part of the Tour Elentrik project curated by Treepack, local artists Simon Mannaerts based his design on observational sketches of passers-by on one of the busiest intersections in the north of Antwerp. One of the entrances to the many factories in the cities' port and the way to our cinema centre that holds a lot of traffic and pasers by. Fortunately the artist could paint in some peace and quiet during the covid-19 social distance.</div>

Steve Locatelli

<div>Locatelli worked together with 2 other artists (Derm &amp; Eva Mouton) on this wall, 80 m wide on 9 m high. 
<br>For 2 weeks they worked on this on demand of the raiway company NMBS. Steve choose fashion as theme for his piece.
<br>After a year of negotiating Steve got the green light and NMBS gave him "carte blanche" to do his thing. He wanted this topspot bad, cause when you drive to Antwerp coming from Holland, the first thing you will see is these colorful walls.

<div>Strook completely got into the Day One theme creating this amazingly detailed totem. He was inspired by the shape of the building and made the totem extra colorful to stand out.<br>The totem is usually an animal or other natural figure that spiritually represents a group of related people such as a clan.<br>So I guess the clan this totem represents is the clan of artists.
