Northern Lapwing

During breeding season, the Northern Lapwing (translation kievit) forms its nests in Belgian grasslands and farming lands. It loses its breeding grounds because of the growth in human population, and by extension the urbanization of our landscape.

Many species are losing territory and our biodiversity is shrinking. This bird, with its recognizable black and white feathers, flies high as a symbol, a voice for those species who are being pushed aside for humanity. We need to learn how to live side by side (like the black and white pattern) and not push away Earth's inhabitants.
