<div>&nbsp; 🏆&nbsp; VOTED 2022 BEST OF JUNE #7<br><br>Lidia is a self-thaught artist born in Galicia (Ordes) and loves to represent women, Lidia’s heroines Lidia’s heroines are very different from each other and express varied femininity, accompanied by a sense of loneliness that serves as a background. With this mural she talks about love, in particular loving someone in difficult times. When all is good loving somebody is easy, but the challenge is to love in hard times. Remember those marriage vows, in good times and in bad…. <br>&nbsp;<em>The mural talks about respect for animals and the importance of instilling it from childhood. This particular mural has a detail of a dragonfly from a story that has occurred there. An old woman had asked me if I could paint one dragonfly as a tribute to her recently deceased daughter. For the woman this detail meant a lot to her.&nbsp;</em></div>

<div>The mural is a representation of the shadow that stalks every human being. It's a version of ourselves but with the parts we don't want to show, our dark side. An entity that opposes accepting the same idea that we ourselves have. Our worst enemy locked inside us which is impossible to make disappear. We live with it day by day. As much as we deny it, there it is. What depends on us is, resist or manage to live with it? Our fears, horrors, shame, panics, intimacies, envy, all belonging to that refractory person, who is the most authentic of us.<br>-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------<br>El mural es una representación de la sombra que nos acecha a cada ser humano. Es una versión de nosotros mismos pero con las partes que no queremos mostrar, nuestro lado oscuro. Un ente que se opone a aceptar la misma idea que tenemos nosotros mismos. Nuestro peor enemigo encerrado dentro de nosotros el cuál es imposible hacer que desaparezca. Convivimos con ello día a día. Por mucho que lo neguemos, ahí está. Lo que depende de nosotros es, resistirse o conseguir convivir con ella? Nuestros miedos, horrores, vergüenzas, pánicos, intimidades, envidias, todo ello perteneciente a esa persona refractaria, que es la más auténtica de nosotros.</div>

<div>This mural is inspired by one of the first novels of CASTRO ROSALIA, written at age 22, entitled ′′ THE DAUGHTER OF THE SEA ":</div><div>The argument of the novel features two heroines that respond to the romantic ideal for their purity, naivety and generous spirit, plus an ideal beauty, but with the peculiarity that they sit in a rural environment and apart from civilization, so that they have no more contact with education and culture than that derived from contact and coexistence with their peers. It's the low people, which in perfect harmony with nature seems oblivious to all the spiritual corruption that arises in the miserable overcrowding of urban areas.&nbsp;<br><br><br></div>

<div>One of the largest mural projects in Athens, Korydallos Lake Park Walls is the artistic intervention that will transform the wall in the former women's prison of suburb Korydallos, in the place where the new, modern green park will be created.<br>14 Greek and foreign artists, established and emerging, will create large-scale street artworks on a wall of 1000 square meters, inspired by nature, the aquatic environment, and art as a way out of freedom.<br>-Organized by Awesome Athens Experiences</div>

A message to spread and keep moving constantly.</em></div><div>&nbsp;'Share the ability to manage to survive unknown waters and overcome complex life processes, resurfacing like a lotus flower, spreading and creating a benevolent way.'&nbsp;<br><br></div>

<div>Mural created by <strong>Lidia Cao</strong> in 2020 during the 2nd edition of <strong>Delas Fest</strong>, a feminist festival of urban and contextual art, in the Calo sports pavilion in <strong>Teo.</strong> The protagonists are<strong> Aurora and Manuela Liste Forján</strong>, neighbours of the municipality and symbols of all women who boldly faced the violence of fascism. Aurora's hands, who holds the scissors that cut the noose of oppression, represent their resistance and determination in the face of the repression exercised against their family due to their commitment to the Second Republic and communism.</div>

Auroras e Manuelas

<div>The theme chosen for Lidia was the figure of the writer Dolores Medio, a writer born in Oviedo/Uviéu who was awarded the Nadal Prize in 1956 for her novel “Nosotros, Los Rivero”. Dolores was a woman ahead of her time, nonconformist and visionary, as well as one of the best writers of the postwar period.<br><br>To immerse the artist in the subject, we had a virtual meeting with Cosme Marina, President of the Dolores Medio Foundation, from whom we could hear at first-hand about the world and work of this Oviedo writer: her life, her passions, her writings and her struggles.<br><br>Lidia wanted to portray Dolores wearing her tie and with short hair, which broke with the molds of the time, accompanied by her typewriter, and stalked by two vultures that symbolize the censorship from which her novels suffered.&nbsp;</div>
