Having a reading disorder, dyslexia did not help Geoff Filmer in his early schooling at Tharwa village south of Canberra and later at Chisholm High School and Tuggeranong College. Yet it has enriched his artistic journey, When he was aged 8, in bed with appendicitis, his father gave Geoff a flower to draw. Geoff replicated it with precision, revealing his artistic talent. Leaving school Geoff worked in several fields, including as a diesel mechanic and setting out instruments for seismic surveys for the Australian Geological Survey organisation. Art resurfaced in his life when he began painting on legal art spaces throughout Canberra, perfecting his technique and turning people’s eyes. Jaws Automotive, Phillip, had a big wall that kept getting tagged, which he turned into a stunning piece featuring great white sharks. Auto Talk around the corner saw it and enlisted the talented painter. Since those early days Geoff has gone on to create many Canberra iconic murals including the Floriade mural at stage 88, red Cross fish tank and Hindmarsh water tank. From there, the business has grown. This has progressed to where Geoff now has worked for over 15 years as Graffik Paint, with a love of working in different styles from stencils to freehand and brush to spray, the joy is to use technique that will bring the artwork location to life, whether it’s a commercial or private residence mural big or small, whatever you’re looking for let Graffik paint collaborate and make great art for your space. Graffik paint has all insurances, license and tickets to work on any commercial site in the ACT or New South Wales and is registered for secure local jobs in the ACT
