Dit 180m2 kunstwerk is gemaakt door kunstenaar Artoon in samenwerking met zesdeklassers van de Neerlandschool en hun leraren. Naast het bevorderen van groenere oplossingen in Europa, is het project ook bedoeld om gemeenschappen dichter bij elkaar te brengen.

Dit werk maakt deel uit van het project #EuropeStreetArt, een reeks van zeven muurschilderingen die de Europese commissie in samenwerking met Treepack ter ere van het Belgische voorzitterschap van de Raad van de EU in verschillende Belgische steden en gemeenten laat realiseren. De muurschildering van de Neerlandschool richt zich op duurzaamheid en is de derde installatie in de serie. Je kan alle werken hier bekijken.

Kunstenaar Artoon was onder de indruk van de creativiteit en de ideeën die de studenten inbrachten.
De studenten hebben het thema bedacht en bijgedragen aan het ontwerp.
Door Street Art te gebruiken als medium, hoopt het initiatief jongeren te inspireren en te informeren over belangrijke kwesties.

"Ik ben erg blij en vereerd om deel uit te maken van dit project, omdat ik altijd geïnteresseerd ben in het helpen overbrengen van de boodschap dat, hoewel wij als mensen 'veel verprutsen', we ook de macht hebben om dingen goed te maken, en hoe beter we de natuur begrijpen. en het is de onderlinge verbondenheid, des te effectiever zullen onze acties zijn. Genoten van de rustige buurt, de enthousiaste reacties van voorbijgangers. Iemand gaf me zelfs een fles wijn! (Je moet van straatkunst houden 😉.) Tijd vinden om te schilderen tussen de soms hevige regenbuien door was een uitdaging, maar onderstreepte, denk ik, ook paradoxaal genoeg de urgentie van het thema van de muurschildering.": vertelt de artist over zijn werk.

This 180m2 work of art was created by local artist Artoon in collaboration with sixth-graders from the "Neerlandschool" and their teachers. In addition to promoting greener solutions in Europe, the project also aims to bring communities closer together.

This work is part of the #EuropeStreetArt project, a series of seven murals that the European Commission, in collaboration with Treepack, has created in various Belgian cities and municipalities in honor of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU. Artist Artoon was impressed by the creativity and ideas that the students contributed.

The students came up with the theme and contributed to the design.

Using Street Art as a medium, the initiative hopes to inspire and inform young people about important issues.

“I am very happy and honored to be part of this project as I am always interested in helping convey the message that although we as humans 'mess up a lot', we also have the power to make things right, and the better we understand nature and its interconnectedness, the more effective our actions will be. Enjoyed the quiet neighborhood, the enthusiastic reactions of passers-by. Someone even gave me a bottle of wine! .) Finding time to paint between the sometimes heavy rain showers was a challenge, but, I think, also paradoxically underlined the urgency of the mural's theme.": says the artist about his work.
