Ibis Styles Hotel nam recent het voormalige Yup Hotel aan de Kleine Ring in Hasselt over.

De Hasseltse ontdekkingsreiziger Adrien de Gerlache wordt bij de inrichting van het nieuwe hotel volop in de spotlights geplaatst. De Gerlache en de bemanning van zijn schip 'Belgica' waren in 1898 de eerste mensen ooit die overwinterden op Antarctica. In het hotel komen verschillende foto’s te hangen van de expeditie zoals van Adrien de Gerlache zelf, maar ook van de matrozen en de wetenschappers aan boord.

Sam Billen, art director bij Treepack, zorgt voor dé eyecatcher van de renovatie met een grote muurschildering op de voorgevel van het hotel. Het portret is geïnspireerd op Adrien de Gerlache en staat symbool voor durf, volharding en het najagen van dromen. De muurschildering werd aangebracht door Hoodo.

Ibis Styles Hotel recently took over the former Yup Hotel at the Kleine Ring in Hasselt.

The Hasselt based explorer Adrien de Gerlache will be put in the spotlight when the new hotel is refurbished. In 1898, de Gerlache and the crew of his ship ‘Belgica’ were the first people ever to winter in Antarctica. The hotel will feature various photos of the expedition such as Adrien de Gerlache himself, but also of the sailors and scientists on board.

Sam Billen, art director at Treepack, provides the eye-catcher of the renovation with a large mural on the hotel's front façade. The portrait is inspired by Adrien de Gerlache and symbol
