Originally commissioned in 2019, the style of the artwork had changed while the artist was in Amsterdam during COVID. This large artwork adorns the southern side of the Smidmore Street extension of Marrickville Metro and is a reference to the flora and fauna of the Gumbramorra swamplands, the original natural state of South Marrickville.
The concept for the mural is based on the native surroundings, the underwater channels that run throughout the inner west, the gumtrees, flora and fauna, and it’s my abstract depiction of that. - Helen Proctor
