Il murale realizzato da Millo allo Sperone nel giugno 2023 si intitola “Adduma” (ita. accendere). L’ottava opera nel quartiere, la terza realizzata insieme all’alleanza creativa di Sperone167, raoppresenta un bambino mentre sale le scale di una botola aperta verso il cielo per accendere una luce sul proprio quartiere.
Con oltre 120 opere murarie all’attivo in tutto il mondo, l’artista descrive così la sua opera consegnando il suo murale alla città: “Salendo una scala immaginaria sospesa sulla città attraverso una piccola botola fino ad arrivare ad accendere una luce che mostri agli occhi attenti ciò che manca quando le istituzioni sono lontane e la vita si fa difficile, ma che soprattutto illumini ciò che più vorremmo vedere: i nostri sogni avverarsi e le nostre battaglie vinte. Spero che questa opera possa far parlare di un quartiere dalle infinite potenzialità e possa mostrare a tutti che anche se in salita, bisogna sempre provarci”.

Oltre agli eventi collaterali, l’Alleanza Creativa Sperone167 che ha promosso l’iniziativa ha restituito un campo di bocce e delle panchine sotto la nuova parete di viale Giuseppe Di Vittorio come spazio pubblico negato e restituito ai cittadini. Fondamentale il lavoro dei volontari di Sperone167 e degli abitanti del quartiere che hanno partecipato attivamente e con grande entusiasmo.
L’intervento attivato da Sperone167 fa parte di un processo di rivitalizzazione dal basso attraverso il potere rigenerativo delle arti a cui hanno aderito associazioni, imprenditori, istituti scolastici e liberi cittadini con lo scopo di accendere i riflettori sulle fragilità dei quartieri simbolo delle periferie di tutto il mondo contribuendo ad una narrazione diversa rispetto alle cronache. Le azioni di Sperone167 non usufruiscono di finanziamenti pubblici. L’Alleanza crede nella partecipazione attiva e nei movimenti dal basso, nell’autodeterminazione e nella giustizia sociale.

The mural created by Millo at Sperone in June 2023 is titled “Adduma” (ita. to light). The eighth work in the neighborhood, the third created together with the creative alliance of Sperone167, depicts a child climbing the stairs of a trapdoor open to the sky to turn on a light on his neighborhood.
With over 120 mural works under his belt around the world, the artist describes his work as he delivers his mural to the city: “Climbing an imaginary staircase suspended over the city through a small trapdoor until he turns on a light that shows attentive eyes what is missing when institutions are far away and life gets difficult, but above all illuminates what we would most like to see: our dreams come true and our battles won. I hope that this work can raise awareness of a neighborhood with infinite potential and show everyone that even if it’s uphill, you always have to try.”

In addition to the collateral events, the Sperone167 Creative Alliance that promoted the initiative returned a bowling green and benches under the new wall of Viale Giuseppe Di Vittorio as a denied public space and returned to the citizens. The work of the Sperone167 volunteers and the residents of the neighborhood who participated actively and with great enthusiasm was fundamental.

The intervention activated by Sperone167 is part of a process of revitalization from below through the regenerative power of the arts in which associations, entrepreneurs, schools and free citizens have joined with the aim of turning the spotlight on the fragility of the neighborhoods that are symbols of the suburbs of the world, contributing to a different narrative compared to the news. Sperone167's actions do not benefit from public funding. The Alliance believes in active participation and grassroots movements, in self-determination and social justice.
