Coen Moulijn is the biggest icon of local football club Feyenoord. So big even, that the mascotte has been named after him and he has a statue outside the stadium.
Between the years of 1955-1972 Moulijn played close to 500 matches for Feyenoord, winning the Europacup 1 (now champions league) and Intercontinental cup in 1970 and becoming national champions five times.
Moulijn grew up in the Bloklandstraat and past away in 2011 at the age of 73.
In 2024 the artwork has been restored by the artist and now it looks fresh again. The last photo show how the work had faded since it was first painted in 2011.
