Description

Painted with students from the Upper Rio Grande Private Industry Council (PIC) Summer Youth Employment Program and the Chicano AIDS. It depicts the affect of the AIDS crisis on the local community at the time. The mural is huge and shows several figures - a man shooting up with a syringe, a pregnant woman, farmland and on the right side, a man with outstretched arm beseeching the heavens for help. Near his feet is a pair of ostriches with their heads buried in the sand. They represent the local politicians' actions at the time.
