Street Art Cities

This mural, commissioned by the home owners association, has several references to the name giver of the street; Saint Jacob. The most obvious one is the scallop (saint jacobs shell in Dutch) at the top of the painting. The girl in the picture is wearing a pilgrims robe, referring to the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela where the bones of Saint Jacob are buried. The pilgrimage also stands as a symbol for the life journey of the young woman.

Deze muurschildering, in opdracht van de vereniging van eigenaren, heeft verschillende verwijzingen naar de naamgever van de straat; Sint Jacob. De meest opvallende is de sint-jacobsschelp bovenaan de schildering. Het meisje in de afbeelding draagt een pelgrimsmantel, een verwijzing naar de pelgrimstocht naar Santiago de Compostela waar de beenderen van Sint Jacob begraven liggen. De pelgrmstocht staat ook symbool voor de levensreis van de jonge vrouw.
