"Neustadt" (New Town) is a permanent outdoor sculpture installation created by the artist Julius von Bismarck and the architect/artist Marta Dyachenko. Commissioned as the 19th artwork for the Emscherkunstweg (Emscher Art Trail), it was officially opened on May 1, 2021, inside the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord.
The installation features a fictional miniature city composed of 23 architectural sculptures built at a 1:25 scale. Every single miniature is modeled after a real building from the Ruhr region that has been demolished and permanently removed from the cityscape since the turn of the millennium.
The artwork spans an open grassy area of over 200 square meters in the northern, greener section of the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord (near the Alte Emscher riverbed and the A42 motorway). As an open-air public art piece, it is accessible 24/7 with no admission fee.
