The mural painter Zësar Bahamonte (Seville, 1986) has been commissioned to carry out a commemorative work for Teresa Onieva, an intervention that has been promoted by the four children of this recently deceased neighborhood neighbor, on one of the walls of the family home . With this mural it is intended to pay tribute to Teresa Onieva, as well as to stimulate the artistic activity of the Old Town with the realization of works proposed by local creators. This façade is also a declaration of intent, to make the neighbors protagonists, who are the ones that fill the neighborhood with life.

For this intervention, Zësar Bahamonte has been able to develop concepts present throughout his entire career, such as the beauty of human relationships in love, in creation and in friendship. Bahamonte's work is characterized by his constant investigation of vibrant and harmonious color palettes, and chromatic forms that the author has been able to capture in international projects in places such as São Paulo, Mexico City, Barcelona, Lisbon, Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Jerusalem , Amsterdam or Paris. This work is the first large mural that the artist has done in his hometown.

This urban canvas is a kind of tribute to a person who is very dear to his community, but it is also intended to serve as the seed for a new, more artistic way of understanding the memory of the neighborhood and its future. “We like that the neighborhood has good artistic proposals. We would love for it to be the beginning, that from here many other stories can be reflected on your walls thanks to local artists, murals that tell something and have a story. This is a tribute to all the residents of the neighborhood”, explains José Luis Vila, son of Teresa Onieva. "We want the children of the veteran neighbors to come back and give that renovation they deserve."

Teresa Onieva and her husband, José Luis Vila, decided to move to the Old Town, to Clavellinas street, 33 years ago, at a time when the surroundings of San Luis were in a certain state of neglect. The couple decided to live in this area and during all these years they have formed a neighborhood network of support and care. Teresa Onieva was one of the historic residents, and with her departure, the neighborhood loses one of the last "lifelong" neighbors, especially those promoters who moved to the San Luis area and bet on her in a time when no one wanted to settle in this Sevillian district.

The surroundings of the mural have a very special meaning for the family, since the adjacent square is dedicated to José Luis Vila, the former husband of Teresa Onieva, a municipal worker who did a lot for the city and to improve the conditions of the historic center. This couple was very active in creating community and helped their neighbors through daily practices and sharing what they had. In addition, Teresa's children remember her as a vitalist and fighting woman, a spirit they also want for the neighborhood: “Teresa was sick for many years, when she was diagnosed with the disease they gave her 6 months to live but in the end it lasted 10 years. She was a woman who was characterized by her desire to live, she went out every day being good or bad ”, they explain from Onieva's family. For this reason, the mural created by Zësar Bahamonte remembers her with a glass of red wine in her hand and accompanied by her family, as she did until the end of her days.

Zësar Bahamonte (Seville, 1986) linked to graffiti since his adolescence, directed his studies towards graphic and visual creation at the Seville School of Art. Currently, his mural work is in the permanent exhibition of the Straat Museum in Amsterdam, he is curator of the ephemeral mural intervention project "Fugâh" of the Ahé cultural association, in Calle Sol in Seville; he has recently participated in the Art Baniana artist residency; at L'Art Habite la Ville in Mons (Belgium) and in individual exhibitions at Di Gallery (Seville) or La Causa (Madrid).

His murals can be found all over the world, in cities such as Montevideo, Jerusalem, Quito (Ecuador), Guadalajara (Mexico), São Paulo, Mexico City, Yekaterinburg (Russia), Barcelona, Lisbon, Buenos Aires, Amsterdam or Paris. . Teresa Onieva's mural is the first large-format work carried out by the artist in his city, an opportunity that he welcomes with enthusiasm after a whole career of international projection.

El pintor muralista Zësar Bahamonte (Sevilla, 1986) ha sido el encargado de realizar una obra conmemorativa a Teresa Onieva, intervención que ha sido impulsada por los cuatro hijos de esta vecina del barrio, recientemente fallecida, en una de las paredes de la casa familiar. Con este mural se pretende realizar un homenaje a Teresa Onieva, así como dinamizar la actividad artística del Casco Antiguo con la realización de obras propuestas por creadores locales. Esta fachada es también una declaración de intenciones, de hacer protagonistas a los vecinos, que son los que llenan de vida el barrio.

Para esta intervención, Zësar Bahamonte ha podido desarrollar conceptos presentes a lo largo de toda su trayectoria, como son la belleza de las relaciones humanas en el amor, en la creación y en la amistad. La obra de Bahamonte se caracteriza por su investigación constante de paletas de colores vibrantes y armónicas, y formas cromáticas que el autor ha podido plasmar en proyectos internacionales en lugares como São Paulo, Ciudad de México, Barcelona, Lisboa, Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Jerusalén, Amsterdam o París. Esta obra supone el primer mural de grandes dimensiones que el artista realiza en su ciudad natal.

Este lienzo urbano es una suerte de homenaje para una persona muy querida por su comunidad, pero también pretende servir de germen para una nueva forma más artística de entender la memoria del barrio y su futuro. “Nos gusta que el barrio tenga buenas propuestas artísticas. Nos encantaría que fuera el comienzo, que a partir de aquí muchas otras historias se puedan reflejar en sus paredes gracias a artistas locales, murales que cuenten algo y tengan una historia. Este es un homenaje para todos los vecinos del barrio”, explica José Luis Vila, hijo de Teresa Onieva. “Queremos que los hijos de los vecinos veteranos vuelvan y den esa renovación que se merece”.

Teresa Onieva y su marido, José Luis Vila, decidieron mudarse al Casco Antiguo, a la calle Clavellinas, hace 33 años, en una época en la que las inmediaciones de San Luis se encontraban en cierto estado de abandono. El matrimonio decidió hacer vida en esta zona y durante todos estos años han formado una red vecinal de apoyo y cuidados. Teresa Onieva era una de las vecinas históricas, y con su marcha, el barrio pierde a una de las últimas vecinas “de toda la vida”, en especial, de aquellos impulsores que se mudaron a la zona de San Luis y apostaron por ella en una época en la que nadie quería asentarse a este distrito sevillano.

El entorno del mural tiene un significado muy especial para la familia, pues la plaza aledaña está dedicada a José Luis Vila, el que fuera marido de Teresa Onieva, trabajador municipal que hizo mucho por la ciudad y por mejorar las condiciones del centro histórico. Este matrimonio fue muy activo en la creación de comunidad y ayudaron a sus vecinos a través de prácticas cotidianas y de compartir lo que se tenía. Además, los hijos de Teresa la recuerdan como una mujer vitalista y luchadora, un espíritu que también desean para el barrio: “Teresa estuvo enferma durante muchos años, cuando le diagnosticaron la enfermedad le dieron 6 meses de vida pero al final duró 10 años. Era una mujer que se caracterizaba por sus ganas de vivir, salía cada día estando buena o mala”, explican desde la familia de Onieva. Por ello, el mural creado por Zësar Bahamonte la recuerda con una copa de vino tinto en la mano y acompañada por su familia, como hizo hasta el final de sus días.

Zësar Bahamonte (Sevilla, 1986) vinculado al graffiti desde su adolescencia, orientó sus estudios hacia la creación gráfica y visual en la Escuela de Arte de Sevilla.
