This painted donkey was part of the 2002 Party Animals series in which local artists painted donkeys or elephants that were then placed around town. The DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities sponsored the event which ran from April to the fall. After the exhibit the figures were sold to raise funds for the Commission's many projects in DC.
