Koepoort

Description

First mural in Ghent by this Argentinian artist who made a brief visit to the city. The best way to see this mural is at the other side from the water at Achtervisserij. Some words about this artwork:

"Drawing inspiration from local history, Tomas created a mural that invites us to revisit the past of Ghent. This artwork adorns a wall at Koepoortkaai, named after the "Koepoort" (Cow Gate). Dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries, this area was historically used for cattle breeding, with the gate likely named for the cows that passed through it to graze. FACIO reimagined this story through his cultural perspective, featuring an Argentinian farmer in a unique cultural exchange."

A project by Wallin' supported by Stad Gent.

My life? Street art, music, European comics, contemporary art, travelling... On my FlickR account you'll find all my street art photography, and yes that means a lot of pictures. Living in Ghent (Belgium), so most pictures are taken in my home town. And yes, that's the place I'm taking care of on Street Art Cities. Let me know when you come over to visit, perhaps we can have a drink or walk.
