“The Workshop,” based on a photograph from the Valongo Municipal Archive, depicts one of the tasks historically carried out by women: cutting and treating wooden slats used in the construction of slate frames. This work was further documented in one of the factories still in operation, Manuel Carvalho da Silva, Lda.

With this second visit and intervention, the tribute to all those who devoted and continue to devote many years of their lives to working with this stone, a defining symbol of this region, is complete.
