Utrecht-based artist Jan Heinsbroek, known as Jan Is De Man, created a mural in the Esdoornstraat that incorporates children’s drawings. The initiative came from local residents who wanted to add something special to their community. They collected the drawings, which Jan then transformed into a mural featuring rockets, sharks, and imaginary creatures. The artwork reflects the creativity of the neighborhood’s children, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, it offered a safe, local way for them to contribute and enjoy a public “museum” in their own street.
