The Estepona Town Hall informs that the Navarrese artist Eneko Azpiroz has completed the new artistic mural that is located in the public square next to the new town hall building.

The 'Deep' work, which occupies an area of 700 square meters, has become the first 'Ground Eco-Painting' mural in the municipality, since it has been executed on the pavement of the square. In this way, the ground has become a place of creation and the work will be able to be passed through and traveled freely for the enjoyment of passers-by.

In addition, this creative action will have an activating and transforming nature of the public space. It will measure the aesthetic experience and the behavior of the users, inviting the viewer to explore it from different points of view, transforming their perception of the landscape and placing this new space on the cultural map of the city.

Likewise, through this plastic intervention, the artist Eneko Azpiroz appeals to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the 2030 Agenda, specifically the 14th challenge 'Connect and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources'. In addition, the composition connects directly with the marine character of the city of Estepona.

This painting was the winner of the 'Estepona-Jardín de la Costa del Sol International Urban Art Competition' convened by the City Council and AEDAS Homes, a national reference housing developer. The contest is part of the cultural strategy 'ConLasArtes by AEDAS Homes', a unique initiative in the real estate sector that promotes artistic production with international projection and that seeks to add value to the urban environment in a sustainable way, generating cohesion between society and the artists, in those cities where it develops its activity.

Regarding the production of the work, the artist has explained that a flat ink technique has been chosen for a better visualization in short distances and that it can also be enjoyed from above. As a base, the work has turquoise blues and magenta and yellow tones predominate.

In the days prior to the start of the work, Eneko Azpiroz has taken overhead images with a drone and has been establishing the grids of the composition. The mural has different large marine animals as protagonists that will become a symbol of the defense of our oceans. In this regard, the artist explained that this work is a message that caring for the seas must be a priority for the health of both people and the planet.

Lastly, it should be noted that the 'Deep' mural is work number 64 in this great open-air museum that Estepona has become and that has made it a benchmark for urban art in our country.

El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa que el artista navarro Eneko Azpiroz ha concluido el nuevo mural artístico que está ubicado en la plaza pública junto al nuevo edificio consistorial. 

La obra ‘Profundo’, que ocupa una superficie de 700 metros cuadrados, se ha convertido en el primer mural ‘Ground Eco-Painting’ del municipio, ya que se ha ejecutado en el pavimento de la plaza. De esta manera, el suelo se ha convertido en un lugar de creación y la obra podrá ser transitada y recorrida libremente para el disfrute de los paseantes. 

Además, esta actuación creativa tendrá carácter activador y transformador del espacio público. Medirá la experiencia estética y el comportamiento de los usuarios, invitando al espectador a explorarlo desde diferentes puntos de vista, transformando su percepción del paisaje y situando este nuevo espacio en el mapa cultural de la ciudad.

Asimismo, a través de esta intervención plástica, el artista Eneko Azpiroz apela a Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) de la Agenda 2030, en concreto al reto 14º ‘Conectar y utilizar sosteniblemente los océanos, los mares y los recursos marinos’. Además, la composición conecta directamente con el carácter marino de la ciudad de Estepona.

Esta pintura fue la ganadora del ‘Concurso Internacional de Arte Urbano Estepona-Jardín de la Costa del Sol’ convocado por el Consistorio y AEDAS Homes, promotora de viviendas de  referencia a nivel nacional. El certamen se enmarca en la estrategia cultural ‘ConLasArtes by AEDAS Homes’, una iniciativa única en el sector inmobiliario que fomenta la producción artística con proyección internacional y que busca sumar valor al entorno urbano de manera sostenible, generando una cohesión entre la sociedad y los artistas, en aquellas ciudades en las que desarrolla su actividad.

En cuanto a la producción de la obra, el artista ha explicado que se ha optado por una técnica de tintas planas para una mejor visualización en distancias cortas y que también pueda ser disfrutada desde las alturas. Como base, la obra tiene azules turquesas y predominan las gamas de magentas y amarillos.

En los días previos al inicio de la obra, Eneko Azpiroz ha tomado imágenes cenitales con un dron y ha ido estableciendo las cuadrículas de la composición. El mural tiene como protagonistas a distintos animales marinos de gran tamaño que se convertirán en todo un símbolo de la defensa de nuestros océanos. A ese respecto, el artista ha explicado que esta obra es un mensaje de que el cuidado de los mares debe ser una prioridad para la salud tanto de las personas como del planeta.

Por último, destacar que el mural ‘Profundo’ es la obra número 64 de este gran museo al aire libre en el que se ha convertido Estepona y que ha hecho de ella un referente del arte urbano de nuestro país.
