Esse Quam Videri (essere invece che sembrare)

Description

A young girl sitting with her knees to her chest is looking to the distant horizon. Originally she held a red marker with which she wrote a latin expression " Esse Quam ... Videri" (Cicerone) visibile in the background.

It emphasises the contemporary concept that It is not enough just to say to be somone but you really have to be so. Another meaning connected to the artwork is the concept of "I see you" beyond appearances and I recognise you for who you are even if you're different from the rest.

Today is the cry of someone who feels the pain of social invisibility.
