"Chapters of Fem Empowerment" is a collaboration between Belarusian and Georgian artists on the topic of strong female figures in Belarusian and Georgian literature.
Tina Chertova dedicated her latest mural to an iconic character like Ekaterine Gabashvili.
Ekaterine was a Georgian writer, feminist, and public figure who called for social reform in favor of womens’ emancipation. She was raised in a wealthy family and had the opportunity to get a good education and be an activist, after which she established a school for needy women.
"It is a good example of supporting others and sharing your knowledge and experience.
Gabashvili is an icon for Georgia and I am happy to remind society of her story through murals" says Chertova.
Alena Davidovich's part of the mural portrays Larissa Ganiush, a Belarusian poetess. On the wall, the artist mentioned a quote from her poetry:
"Не згінай мяне, я не сагнуся, Не баюся ні страхаў, ні зла. Нездарма я з зямлі беларускай. Непахіснай сасною ўзрасла";
“Do not bend me, I will not bend, I am not afraid of fear or evil. It was not for nothing that I grew up from the earth as an unshakable Belarusian pine tree".
"I have chosen her because of her love for Belarus and her inner strength. For me, this poetry speaks about real power: inner strength and the power of the spirit, and faith. It’s also about the importance of staying faithful to yourself and your ideas
to the end of your life".
