Seesternenhimmelszeltplatz

One of the special features of the German language is the word formation pattern of composition. As in the word Donaudampfschifffahrtsgesellschaft, different words are combined with each other to form new terms. The longest word in the Duden dictionary has 44 letters. Recounting them may result in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The word Seesternenhimmelszeltplätzchen may only contain 30 letters, but it is certainly the longest word that Chris Campe has ever put on a wall. Depending on the viewer's perspective, the chain of words on the four walls of the container can be combined into ever new word combinations such as starfish, starry sky or sky tent. This creative use of characters is an essential part of lettering. However, the aesthetic reinterpretation of the letters is at the forefront of this style. In the works of the lettering artist from Hamburg, the letters are stretched, bent and deformed. The letter thus becomes a central object of art. Campes' contribution to this year's façade festival was inspired by the idyllic landscape around the campsite on Lake Lippe. The undulating deformation of the letters in the word lake, for example, is clearly recognisable. The individual areas depict different times of day.
