The artist is known for her works showing the power of women and breaking taboos. While she normally doesn't use famous people as models for her work, she made an exception for this one. We se a portrait of famous model Winny Harlow, who is known for having a skin pigmentation condition. Laxmi Manuela has been diagnosed with a similar condition, and that is what made her decide to choose this model.

The flowers in the artwork refer to the neighborhood of Bloemhof where the mural is painted. All the streets in the area have the names of flowers.
