Migrants Welcome

The design celebrates the swift, a red-listed Northern Ireland Priority Species that has experienced a substantial population decline over the last 25 years.

This is Rob's biggest mural yet, at a height of 13m and 19m wide at its base. The project took 2 and a half weeks to paint and can be found in the Linen Quarter in Belfast, just off Great Victoria Street.

The wall features 8 swift bricks - nesting boxes for our summer migrant species. There is a solar panel-powered swift call speaker that will attract the birds to the wall.

The location was carefully selected to ensure it provides an ideal home for the bricks. It had to face the right direction and have a large enough unobstructed drop for the birds to use the boxes. The bricks are permanently embedded into the wall and will last as long as the building.
