The work is actually a triptych. On the garage door you see the shrew, with skin and hair. On the inside of the garage door, the shrew is without skin, and the muscles are visible. On the wall behind it is the skeleton of the shrew. The artist finds the shrew an interesting animal, because it is a mouse, but does not belong to the rodents. It is the only mouse that belongs to the order of insectivores. So an outsider.

Het werk is eigenlijk een drieluik. Op de garagepoort zie je de spitsmuis, met vel en haren. Op de binnenzijde van de garagepoort staat de spitsmuis zonder huid, en zijn de spieren zichtbaar. Op de muur daarachter staat het skelet van de spitsmuis. De artiest vindt de spitsmuis een interessant dier, omdat het wel een muis is, maar niet tot de knaagdieren behoort. Het is de enige muis die tot de orde van de insecteneters behoort. Een buitenbeentje dus.
