Cat and Mouse

‘Cat and Mouse’ is a monochrome mural by Scottish artist Shaun Devenney, known as DEV. It depicts a large, intensely watchful cat crouching behind a low ledge, its head and front paws emerging into view. Facing it is a much smaller mouse, creating a striking visual contrast between predator and prey. The restricted palette of greys and blacks gives the scene a sombre, almost photographic quality, while the realistic brushwork makes the animals appear remarkably three-dimensional. A horizontal architectural ledge divides the composition and reinforces the sense of tension between the two figures.
