THE LOVING SISTERS

Juta Volchkova, a Russian mural artist painted this mural in 10 days and finished it on 17 July 2016.

The loving sisters show two young sisters from Mur, then aged 7 and 3. Julia bumped into them at Tanjung En by coincident and captured their facial expressions.

Why two sisters? The affection demonstrated by the two represents the strong sense of belonging and attachment among Muarians to their town.

The mural has been recorded into the "Malaysia Book of works as the biggest portrait munal in Malaysia at that time.

Maar District Officer Haji Rantae Bin Haj A Rahman headed the mural project, the first of its kind in Johor. He engaged the people of Muar to work together with locals and promoting multiculturalism and unity.
