The painting "Woman with Dove - Shaping Our Common Future" has been implemented by the Australian artist Fintan Magee whose concept was chosen by a selected jury.
A renowned street artist Fintan Magee arrived in Vienna just before he started work on the massive artwork. Painting the tower took 120 hours of work over approximately three weeks. Two assistants helped him with the artistic implementation, Sophi Odling from Australia and later Axel Schindler from Austria.
The Sydney-based artist is known worldwide for his large-scale paintings, which often address social issues. His work is characterized by deep symbolism and striking visual representation. His large-scale murals can be found all over the world including in London, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, Buenos Aires, Copenhagen, Moscow, Rome and Dublin.
Fintan Magee said: “This work examines the human elements in the role of the UN and the fragility of peace. The work is a reminder that peace is fragile, and humans are imperfect. Lasting stability should never be taken for granted and will always require continued diplomacy and human intervention. Peace is always hard work.”
