The artist Dreph (Neequaye Dreph Dsane) has painted a mural of Marvin Gaye in Brixton, which also references the Brixton Uprisings of 1981. Commissioned by Universal Music Group, the mural commemorates this week's 50th anniversary of the release of Gaye's iconic album 'What's Going On'. This year is also the 40th anniversary of the Brixton Uprisings which started in protest against police violence. The location on Canterbury Crescent is next to Lambeth Council's former offices at International House and just a few metres away from Brixton police station.
