Minerva

Minerva, the goddess of wisdom, is Southland's oldest public sculpture which stood in front of the Southland Museum for more than 70 years. It is in storage, kept for restoration and cannot be seen. It can now be seen in painted form. This mural is in a carpark behind the building so the best way to find the laneway is off Kelvin Street between Don & Esk Streets. Koryu is a Japanese artist now living in New Zealand. He is a graphic artist and muralist with a very unique style. He has painted all over NZ and been involved with several festivals including the South Sea Spray one in Invercargill, Bluff & Winton.
