Desert Siren

Description

"Reprieve - the magic of music. To relinquish chaos and funnel it all through melody and rhythm.

This is the mural I made for Roosevelt Row at the new @evanschurchill substation. Her name is Desert Siren because it’s been the music in the desert that has kept me here for my entire life.

But a new song is approaching and I am following the beat that calls to me. I have been taking a lot of time for reprieve, for solitude, to understand myself and my personal direction better. It’s really so easy to get caught up in the chaos of the moment, but that inward facing journey is not so pretty either.

Nonetheless, I hope you’re all following the rhythms that are authentic to you and guiding you through the muck - cause there’s always a silver lining. Even if it’s just a single note, a soft hum that caresses you in the darkness to find some peace." - Shela Yu, artist
