The piece was inspired by the industrial, hard-working past of the area whilst also celebrating the creative individuals and businesses who represent the Hackney Wick of today. The mural is completed with Busk letters in the background, framed in a vintage style border similar to the Clarnico Sweet Factory adverts of the early 1900s as a nod to the area’s past.
The mural was created by artist Busk in collaboration with Hackney's Global Street Art. Based in his studio in Hackney Wick, Busk has been highly respected in the graffiti game since the 80s and is well known for his writing as well as being a versatile muralist. The streets of Hackney Wick are both his inspiration and his medium, and he has long been a local legend due to many signature pieces that pay homage to the old school writers scene.
