Origami wall
Born and raised in the Haute-Savoie mountains, Mademoiselle Maurice is a 29 years old French artist. Following studies in Architecture in Lyon, it was in Geneva then Marseille that she laid down her bags, before leaving to live a year in Japan. Following the tragic events of March 11, 2011 (Earthquakes, Tsunami and Explosion of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant) while living in Tokyo, she decided to start composing her plastic and urban works in connection with these events. It is based on the legend of 1000 cranes and on the story of Sadako, a little girl who lived through the tragedy of Hiroshima.
Today in Paris, Mademoiselle Maurice develops and creates within her mini work-room countless colorful works bearing the fruits of a course rich in influences and teachings.
Through origami, lace, embroidery or other mixed techniques, she gives birth to works in direct contact with her everyday life. Its fetish materials being paper and thread, it shapes noble and natural materials in a complex way.
Surging from the grisaille of Paris, sees the day a nebula of works breaking with urban monotony.
From these openly positive creations, ultra colored and demanding, emanates a carousel of emotion where each one echoes its own sensitivity. Light in appearance, the work of Mademoiselle Maurice questions the interactions between man and his environment.
This work, composed of 15,000 origami birds made with the inhabitants of the city, is visible at 1, rue Paul Bourget. It is the largest fresco in Paris.
