Reggery Gravenbeek

This portrait of film maker Reggery Gravenbeek was a gift from the neighborhood to thank him for all the good work he has done. The mural was painted as a surprise for Gravenbeek while he was away on vacation. He started receiving photos of the work, but he thought they were a joke until he made a video call.

Gravenbeek came into contact with police a lot when he was younger, but has turned his life around since. He now runs a foundation helping the youths in his neighborhood and organizes events. Some of the guys from there organized to get mural painted, paying for it themselves. This was the way they thought was best to thank Gravenbeek for his efforts, since he does not care much for material possessions.
