More than 70 per cent of the railway stations in Essen are "in need of development", a recent study by VRR shows. These stations also include Essen Kray Nord, where in April 2021 a large-scale renovation project, with a volume of 9 million €, was launched. The budget included a new design for ramps and stairs by a number of well known graffiti artists, who have done their very best to beautify this spot for passengers.
