Tempus Fugit

Artwork made during the 2014 edition of ARTURb - United Artists in Residence

Aryz's mural Tempus Fugit in Lagos is a striking example of his distinct style, blending surrealism with large-scale figurative art. The title, meaning "Time Flies," reflects the ephemeral nature of life, which is a recurring theme in his work. The mural depicts an abstract figure intertwined with natural elements, evoking a sense of fleeting beauty and impermanence. Aryz's use of muted colors and meticulous detail transforms the wall into a canvas that invites reflection on the passage of time and our connection to the environment.

ARTURb is a unique project in the Algarve that involves some of the most important names in urban art. This project consists of a period of artistic residency at LAC, followed by an exhibition at the same location and several public art interventions throughout the city of Lagos, guided tours and the launch of a catalogue.

During the period of artistic residency, artists have complete freedom to develop their work inside and outside the collective space of the LAC (former Lagos prison) which is available for any intervention, adaptation or artistic creation
