Painted as part of the Belfast Canvas Project, paid for by Belfast City Council, this piece was inspired by public workshops that took place in late 2019.
FGB's work, particularly during the pandemic, is deliberately playful and uplifting. Here he's playing with Belfast's reputation as a wet and grey place and flipping it with a big happy sun. The 'Wish You Were Here' isn't just a play on the phrase you put on a postcard but also a mid lockdown longing for us all to be out and about in Belfast again.
