Cal Gallifa · Sant Joan de Vilatorrada
This mural is a small tribute to the industrial heritage of Sant Joan de Vilatorrada and to all the people who worked in its textile factories over the generations.
Cal Gallifa was one of the town’s major spinning mills. Cotton was the main material processed here, and a large part of the workforce was female: spinners, roving-frame workers, knotters...
That is where the image of the mural comes from: a textile worker focused on the delicate gesture of handling the thread, surrounded by bobbins and machinery that recall an activity that was part of everyday life in this place for decades.
