this piece is my take on a liverbird (the symbol of my city Liverpool). the liverbirds are statues atop the liver building and are said to watch over the city. The city has many, many artworks of the liverbirds but they are all artworks of the statues, I want to envision a living liverbird captured in different poses and positions. After a long time trying to piece together my imagination of a liverbird I stumbled across an African bird called the secretary bird which seemed to fit all the criteria I was looking for, as well as being a beautiful bird. I decided instead of piecing together a bird I would use the secretary bird and change the colour to suit the image in my mind. the project was funded by culture liverpool and the liverpool without walls program. I painted this side of the building and my friend liam bononi painted the other.
