Memorandum 2020 - Euphonium / Diptych by Roman Muratkin (Serpukhov)

Description

As many other contemporary street artists Roman started with pristine graffiti eventually learning the adjacent fields thus forming the recognizable visual style having plastics and dynamics easily fitting urban objects and interior works.

Culture is a direct heritage of the Victory Day, fanfares, sound of a military orchestra as a symbol of the solemn Victory march. Frontline songs and folksongs are a sign of the unswerving willpower. During the post-war period, the sounds of music were heard at public dancefloors, the bands mostly consisted of brass instruments and these bands’ musicians were mostly ex-military.

In the post-war years, public spaces were filled with music and dancing as symbols of peaceful unscathed times. Having survived the tragedy of war, people stayed human, got back to common day-to-day chores. Culture was and still is the highest degree of human striving towards the best.

Roman interpreted the Victory topic by cultural heritage through times and difficulties, as a symbol of freedom from prejudices. Music and dancing unite people despite putative borders and limits. Culture safekeeps concentration of meanings and reflects certain milestones in time, different eras influencing people. Eternal topics stay actual while centuries pass.
