The New Orleans Food Co-Op Mural was designed and painted by Elizabeth Traina. Devin Meyers and Heahter Munzter were associate artists on the Co-Op Mural. Elizabeth Traina utilizes her artistic abilities to combine the art and ideas of the community into a cohesive image with a high aesthetic message. Elizabeth facilitates the community’s participation of painting of the mural, ensuring that all feel a sense of ownership and creative empowerment through the process. Her work culminates in striking professional public work that carries the message of many. The work then serves as a touchstone of the community’s unique history, values and vision for the future.
