("XIUHCÓATL" SERPIENTE DE TURQUESA OR SERPIENTE DE FUEGO) is a monumental work that stands out for its verticality, as we can rarely see in the street canvas, so it is immediately inserted as one of the most representative pieces of graffiti in the city , in addition to being located in the American colony, one of the areas with the greatest architectural and artistic history in Guadalajara.
The serpent has historically represented great symbolisms of the strength and spiritual life of the human being, in different millenary cultures. From wisdom and immortality, to temptation or purity, constant inconsistencies that complement each other. For the Maya, for example, it represented wisdom, the communion between heaven and earth. Legend has it that Coatlicue gave birth to the god Huitzilopochtli, who emerged dressed as a warrior and armed with a serpent of fire, called Xiuhcóatl. It is the most powerful weapon of the Mexica gods wielded by the god of war Huitzilopochtli. With the Mexica culture the serpent acquires multiple meanings and diverse representations, it is part of the costume of Huitzilopochtli, who carries in his hand the fire or turquoise snake Xiuhcóatl that symbolizes heat, fire and light.
The Turquoise Serpent is painted vertically in a building on Libertad Street, Colonia Americana.
