Parkes and Central NSW boast some of the darkest skies in Australia, and as such is a wonderful place to appreciate the wonders of the night sky. Coordinated by the Central West Astronomical Society, AstroFest is held in Parkes annual in July to foster, encourage and promote astronomy in the region. This festival brings to the people of the Central West world renowned astronomers, both professional and amateur, so they may share their enthusiasm and love of the heavens.
A main feature of AstroFest is the David Malin Astrophotography Awards, open to all amateur astronomers in Australia and judged by world-renowned astrophotographer Dr David Malin. Be enlightened by this selection of photographs which have featured throughout the history of the David Malin awards.
