Yadhaa Yarrubang

Translated from the local Ngunnawal language to 'Dream big'.

Our journey in education is infinite. This artwork represents how we travel through education and through the different stages in our lives. Starting with the small circles in primary school, which get bigger as our world expands. The journey weaves through from circle to circle becoming more complex as we grow and the responsibilities of the students become greater. The journey weaves from the side wall to the front where the students enter high school and begin to think about their future and what they can become. The students' thoughts of aspiring are captured by the large grey circle which represents the night sky and the students' reaching for the stars to realise their dreams.

The large eagle (Mulleun) is the Ngunnawal totem, this is watching over students and keeping them safe whilst traveling through their journey on Ngunnawal Country. As students enter Canberra College their circle becomes larger, surrounded by more people. The journey continues up the stairwell with the Bogong Moths, a valuable resource to the Ngunnawal people and are included in the mural to guide our students to achieve their greatest aspiration. The Bogong Moths take you to the entrance to the cultural room where the mural represents the stars, showing that you can achieve your goals.
