Stadtzeichen Wasser Lichtinstallation Brunnenbrücke

Description

Passers walking accross Essen's Viehofer Straße mostly don't notice them, the five landmarks called "Stadtzeichen" marking "Creative Quarter North". They are made to symbolize economic recovery of the city and have been designed by Uli Dratz, architect based in Oberhausen. They have been erected in the frame of an architecture competition in the 1990ies for the purpose of remodelling  the northern quarter.  Essen is a waterside city; Ruhr, Emscher and Rhine-Herne-Canal cross it. "Water" is designed as a well, arched with 3 bows of light. Light installation to be seen at dusk.

In 2013 I started with a new hobby. In the beginning it was difficult to get reliable information how to find streetart in public space. In 2016, I had the idea of sharing my information with other street art enthusiasts and started my blog “Streetartwalks”. When I found out about this new street art community at the beginning of 2018, I was immediately on board.
