Científicas en el muro

This work is part of the project devised by the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit of the University of Córdoba. It aims to familiarize the public with relevant women in the history of science and to use urban art as a powerful tool for social communication to highlight the role of female researchers. Sake has been entrusted with the work, focusing on the researcher Gabriela Morreale. This scientist is responsible for the Heel Prick Test, which is performed on all newborns. She dedicated her life to studying the role of iodine and thyroid hormones in the development of the fetal and infant brain. In the 1970s, she initiated the routine measurement of TSH and thyroid hormones in the heel blood of newborns to prevent mental deficiency due to untreated congenital hypothyroidism.
