Her work consists of stylized flowing shapes, vibrant colors and surfaces. Women are often present in her free work and she would like to convey the feeling of self-confidence and freedom. Marije gets her inspiration from shapes, colours, basically everything she usually encounters and she has a love for colored buildings. In addition to illustrating and making murals, the artist enjoys painting, traveling and browsing flea markets. She can easily paint for days with her face focused one centimeter above her work and some music on.
The wall is about jazz music. The father of the owner of the house was very fond of jazz music and his son dearly wanted Louis Armstrong to be painted on the wall. For this wall the artist was inspired by the song "What a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong. The woman and the flowers that come out of the trumpet refer to that wonderful world.
